Serrano’s Joins PHOENIX Century Club

On July 4th we were greeted with an amazing surprise: We are truly honored to be featured in PHOENIX magazine’s “The Century Club” highlighting Arizona businesses that have stood the test of time for 100+ years. To be included among so many incredible local legacies is humbling and deeply meaningful for our family.
Happy Retirement Theresa

Happy Retirement Theresa

We’re celebrating a very special milestone for our Serrano sister, Theresa! As head of HR, she has cared for our team with the same heart and dedication she’s always shown our guests. Please join us in wishing her a wonderful retirement filled with joy and new adventures. Thank you, Theresa, for your many years of service, love, and leadership. You will always be part of our Serrano’s family!

Serrano’s Supports Shop with a Cop

For years, the Serrano family has proudly supported Shop with a Cop, led by Cindy and Jim Hill of AZLEOS—the first “Collaboration and Fundraising Hub” for Arizona law enforcement and the community. This heartwarming event pairs officers with children for a joyful holiday shopping day. Serrano’s fuels the fun with breakfast burritos and was honored with AZLEOS’ 2024 Community Policing–Community Heroes Award. Donations are always welcome to help brighten a child's holiday!
Ernie Serrano Retires!

Ernie Serrano Retires!

Our family business has seen many changes, and now we celebrate another—our brother, Ernie Serrano Jr., is retiring from Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants this June 2024. Ernie’s head for business and heart for service embody our motto: Faith. Family. Food. After 27 years with Serrano’s (plus 19 at Basha’s and even earlier at Serrano Brothers), he’s ready to enjoy family time. We send him off with love, bean dip, and gratitude!
End of an Era

End of an Era

After 44 years, we permanently closed our Chandler location at 141 S. Arizona Ave. on June 1, 2024. This decision was not easy, but rising costs and increased competition made it necessary. Our Mesa and Queen Creek locations remain open, and Chandler staff will be offered jobs there. We are deeply grateful to our customers, employees and community for decades of memories.
AZCEND honors Ernie Serrano

AZCEND honors Ernie Serrano

Our very own Ernie Serrano was nominated for the Tracey Washington Spirit Award for serving his community with dignity and respect. For nearly two decades, he’s provided monthly meal service at St. Vincent de Paul in Mesa—serving 350+ homemade meals from Serrano’s—and leads an annual toy and supply drive for the Franciscan Sisters Charity in Bapchule. Humble as ever, Ernie shares this honor with all who serve beside him.

Serrano’s Receives Bobby Kramer Spirit Award

We’re honored to be an inaugural recipient of the Bobby Kramer Spirit Award from the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership, named for a beloved local mixologist. The DCCP recognized the Serrano family for nearly two decades of feeding the homeless with St. Vincent de Paul and for continuing safely through the pandemic. Our “Burritos for Badges” program was also highlighted for supporting first responders. We’re truly grateful!

Stephanie Serrano, 1954-2019

It is with deep sorrow that we remember our sister, Stephanie Serrano, who passed away on October 17, 2019, after more than six years fighting breast cancer. We are so proud of her strength and perseverance, and grateful to God for the time we had with her. Each October, we honor her legacy through our Pink Out and raise funds for breast cancer research. We hope you will join us in celebrating her and supporting this important cause.
Student + Serranos Do Good

Student + Serranos Do Good

Hamilton High junior Eliana DeTata wanted to support her community during COVID-19, so she created a GoFundMe that raised more than $2,000 to feed nightshift workers at Chandler Regional Medical Center. She partnered with Chandler-based Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants and their Burritos for Badges program, purchasing 200 First Responder burritos plus chips, salsa and bean dip for an early-morning delivery. You can still support her effort or donate directly to Burritos for Badges.

We were thrilled when PHOENIX Magazine named us Best Family Meal and later featured our Pollo Ranchera recipe. And we’re honored yet again with a recent Happy Hour shout-out from managing editor Leah Lemoine, praising our care for dine-in and to-go guests and our true family-business feel. Note: Some items mentioned are no longer available on the Test Kitchen Menu, but can be found on our Happy Hour or regular menu. Thank you for your understanding!
