Serrano’s Downtown Chandler Restaurant Participates in Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge

Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant in downtown Chandler is participating in the 7th annual Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge. In support of Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC) and the thousands of young entrepreneurial Girl Scouts selling cookies this season, Serrano’s Executive Chef Lorraine Serrano has created a winning dessert featuring the classic Girl Scout Trefoil cookies.
The Strawberry Flan Trifle featuring Girl Scout Trefoils includes layers of flavors in a traditional trifle dessert made with crumbled Girl Scout Trefoils, fresh strawberries and a fluffy flan mousse.
“We combined our flan, a traditional Mexican favorite, with the classic Trefoil Girl Scout Cookie and added fresh strawberries for a flavorful experience,” said Serrano’s Executive Chef Lorraine Serrano. “The Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge intrigued us because our mother founded Serrano’s (Mexican Restaurants) alongside our father more than 40 years ago. We applaud the entrepreneurial effort that Girl Scout Cookie sales represent as the world’s largest girl-led program.”
The dessert will be available throughout the month of February at Serrano’s Downtown Chandler location onlyfor $6.99. A portion of the proceeds from every dessert sold supports Girl Scouting in Arizona.
“GSACPC is thrilled that Serrano’s is participating this year. All the restaurants not only raise critical funds to support local Girl Scouting, but also inspire home cooks across Arizona to buy an extra box or two this Girl Scout cookie season to create their own desserts,” said Susan de Queljoe, senior director of marketing and communications for GSACPC.
For the second year, GSACPC will also offer an online poll for everyone to vote for their favorite! To vote, fans can visit girlscoutsaz.org/dessertchallenge. The dessert with the most votes at the end of the challenge in central and northern Arizona regions will each be crowned the 2020 Girl Scout Dessert Challenge Champion in early March.
